You’ve Gotta See Southeast Asia: Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar
It’s calling us all…
The countries that make up Southeast Asia are mysterious, alluring, and – to both a travel rookie and a trained eye – magical. Thailand is the heavy hitter of the bunch, with bustling Bangkok, endless sandy islands that start with ‘Koh’ and the charming countryside, most of all the northern hub of Chiang Mai. Vietnam is a well-established hot spot – it’s exotic and affordable, with natural wonders like Halong Bay, terrific cosmopolitan cities like Ho Chi Minh and romantic Hanoi, and all the charming towns like Hoi An that line the skinny country’s coast. Cambodia is just now coming into its own – Angkor Wat is one of the world’s most famous heritage sites, a true and breathtaking temple, while cities like Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville are overwhelmingly vibrant and, well, fun. Laos and Myanmar are perhaps the forgotten of the region’s five, but they shouldn’t be – travellers flock to Vang Vieng and Vientiane, and more will be heading to Yangon and Bagan as the former Burma explodes in popularity!
